The year is 1994, and you have a selection of quality German engineering to choose from.

DD, Track & Burn. Go!

Kinja'd!!!

The Audi 80 RS2 Avant, 311BHP 2.2 I5.

Kinja'd!!!

The Mercedes-Benz E500 (500E), 322BHP 5.0 V8

Kinja'd!!!

The Alpina B8 (BMW E36), 329BHP 4.6 V8.

It’s a decision between the Audi’s 4WD wizardry, the Merc’s Q-car status or the Alpina’s musical V8. As always, you choose.

DD/ track Benz

Burn the others. If they weren't wagons, maybe I'd spare em. But they are. So they burn.

DD the Audi because I’ve driven one and oh god it’s magnificent. Track the BMW because handling, and though it pains me, burn the Benz. But put it out very quickly so it can be fixed.

You have a major perception issue; your prejudice against things which you have no bearing on is both aggravating as well as bigoted and I am rapidly losing respect for you both as an Opponaut as well as a person.

Kinja'd!!!

Hate this if you want, but I’m going to appreciate it all the same. There is something called acceptance in the automotive world, and you certainly don’t have much of it.

Good Lord, are you serious? The thing about doozy us is that we are all enthusiastic about different things. I like four-door GMs and Audis. Ben likes big ass Cadillacs. And you can like whatever you like. But when you try to enforce it was he has them on to others, it takes all the fun away.

The Alpina is also available as a 4-door, 2-door, convertible and even limo.

That’s not it. What I have an issue with is that he writes things off immediately as “I don’t like it and you’re wrong for liking it and no one should like it”. I know that’s not as obvious here, but I’ve had encounters like that before and I’m sick of his prejudice. It would have sufficed to say, “Burn the wagons, I prefer sedans myself” but the way that he said it instead implied that he’d burn them so no one else could have them either, and that’s not what I call enthusiasm.

Exactly what I’m trying to say. I wouldn’t drive a Miata myself, but I can see what it is and why people would appreciate it. I don’t know anymore, I think it was just the tone that Rolland used that got me riled up.

It has to be dd the Audi and track the BMW. But what I'd really like to do is split dd between those two and track something that isn't a beautiful wagon who's practicality is pointless on the track.

The Mercedes does not have a wagon version, the Audi was only sold as a wagon and the BMW can be either.

Alpina for DD since Alpina basically makes comfier, more luxurious Bimmers. Also, that pinstriping is way too pretty to bash up on a track.

RS2 for Track, much faster than the 500E and probably has better weight distribution with the lighter engine and heavier rear.

Regretfully burn the 500E, unfortunately it just doesn’t stand out as much as the others since it’s slower than the Audi and less comfortable and practical than the Alp. Maybe I’ll just collect it for preservation purposes?

Quality being relative of course.

DD the BMW. Track the Merc. Burn the Audi. Alpina is for cruising. RWD is for the track. Nose heavy Audi are for burning.

Good choice and I agree - there isn’t a wrong answer here.

I don’t like the E36 myself imo, though I think the V8 fixes (most) of its problems.
